As we unveiled our newest generation aero bike VA-AFO, some of you may have noticed the two sleek bottle cages on its seat tube and down tube. These aero bottle cages were specifically designed for our new tube shapes, let’s dive into all the details we packed in!

 

 

 

 

 

DARE’s designers worked alongside CFD experts in Switzerland to test the air resistance of bottle cages already on the market, and used these calculations to model an even more aero cage shape. Then we continued on to test varying positions to place the cages, finding that an optimal height was able to save 0.3 – 0.9 watts compared to a regular attachment position.

 

 

 

 

 

After rigorous testing we were able to reduce the resistance of our bike and bottle cage by a final 1-1.5 watts. Our designers then tested samples of different materials and functionality, arriving at long last at the V:B1 (seat tube) and V:B2 (down tube) designs you see today! A perfect match with VA-AFO’s tube shapes, V:B1 and V:B2 add a polished, detailed look to our newest aero experience.
