Technology

We are dedicated to building the highest performance and best quality into each DARE bike.
Each DARE bike is made of carbon fiber in various shapes and sizes, meticulously calculated by computers. We designed carbon fiber layup according to the strength needed for different parts of a frame, and used electronic cutting machines to remove unwanted parts. We took on the challenge of creating the lightest frame while retaining strength and stiffness. To achieve reduced weight, we have even taken the weight of paint into consideration. All of our bike frames are painted by professional craftsmen, who use the least paint possible to cover the entire frame while dressing it up. We also greatly emphasize the safety of our cyclists. Before being manufactured, all DARE products have to undergo various destructive tests, including fatigue tests, pressure tests, crash tests, and the like. Under strict standards set by ISO4210, the entire bicycle has to remain intact during destructive testing. In order to ensure the safety of our cyclists, DARE pushed to enhance strength by 20% in all tests.

  • APS

[ Asymmetric Power Strengthen (APS) ]
We embed APS, which emphasizes the junction of seat tube, lower left chainstay and bottom bracket (BB), on all models’ frame design. The left chainstay tube diameter is enlarged to withstand high pedaling force and transfer as close to 100% power to the wheels as possible.
  • IMCST

[ Inner Mold Core Smooth Technology (IMCST) ]
DARE’s bike frames are made of 100% carbon fiber. Using new latex inner mold technology, a frame’s inner walls are able to be completely smooth and carbon fiber can be tightly layered on, resulting in consistent frame rigidity and small tolerances.
  • MSHMC

    [ Multiple Synthetic Hot-Melted Carbon (MSHMC) ]
DARE collaborates with Japanese carbon fiber company TORAY to develop low FAW (Fiber Areal Weight) carbon fiber.
MSHMC's thickness and weight are only half of the traditional carbon fiber. In order to keep weight to a minimum, DARE's carbon fiber layering design creates optimal stiffness and torsional resistance by applying different directions and angles. DARE only uses the best material in production and promises our riders the best quality.
  • MWMI

[ Minimum Weight / Maximum Intensity (MWMI) ]
To minimize frame weight yet maintain high flexibility and strength, DARE engineers calculate the best diameters of the frame tubes and use the latest hollow molding technology that provides DARE riders the best riding experience and performance.
  • T+M

    [ T+M Technology (TMT) ]
DARE applies special aerospace high modulus carbon fiber (M series) and high strength carbon fiber (T series), on different regions of the frame design.

It is like spaceships requiring both high stiffness and toughness. It cannot be achieved by using only high tensile force carbon yarn (T series). It has to combine with high modulus carbon fiber (M series) which has large torsional resistance that optimizes deformation resistance. With these two series, DARE’s frames guarantee rider’s best riding performance and safety.
  • DI2CR

[ Direct Integrated Internal Cable Routing (DI2CR) ]
Based on computer calculated data, DI2CR is a cable routing system DARE engineers install inside the frame that improves gear shifting and braking efficiency. DI2CR plays a vital role when integrating Shimano Di2/Sram e-TAP. Thus the frame's appearance is concise and more aesthetically appealing. This innovation also saves up to 10g!
  • SPA

[ Single Bolt Pivot Precise Adjustment (SPA) ]
DARE applies SPA that allows simpler and more direct installation for riders to adjust the saddle forward or backward and its incline.
  • GEOM

[ PRO Geometry Aggressive Mountain (GEOM) ]
In frame structural design, linear REACH and STACK values are essential components to be consider with. Shorter REACH value allows riders to enjoy both agile climbing controllability and downhill riding stability.
  • WBI

[ Wind Blade Integration (WBI) ]
DARE integrates front fork and head tube molding design, so that turbulent airflow is reduced while air flow and side stiffness are increased. This is achieved by an enlarged head tube and front fork cover design that significantly enhances stiffness. In addition, when riding out of the saddle during climbs, WBI provides 100% force feedback without suffering frame deformation.
  • CCF

[ Comfort Channel Frame Design (CCF) ]
In order to increase riding comfort without adding extra weight, DARE designs a hollow section between the top tube and the seat post area. Combining with Flake Armor Technology, CCF improves flexibility and shock absorption that reduces the discomfort of riding on bumpy road.
  • ICC

[ Integrated Chain Catcher (ICC) ]
DRAE develops an ICC which prevents chain from slipping off the small ring during gear changing. It enables riders to pedal and shift without worries.
  • AAS

[ Aerodynamic Adjustable Seat (AAS) ]
DARE aerodynamics model series’ seat post integrates adjustable seat clamp with 73 to 77 degrees of variable seat tube angle. In addition to the angle of 74 degrees supported by general road bike with respect to comfort geometry, an angle of 77 degrees may also be adjusted for time trial geometry to provide the best explosive power for sprint in typical triathlon competition. Moreover, Di2 battery holder is integrated into seat post, such that all Di2 cables are combined inside the frame to keep concise appearance of the bike body.
  • III

[ Integrated Hanger System Cable (III) ]
The bike body is more concise with integrated dropout design containing mechanical cable hole and Di2 cable hole. No doubt that this is the most complex and thoughtful design among existing dropouts for road bikes.
  • IHS

[ Integrated Hidden Seatclamp (IHS) ]
IHS is a seatclamp merged integrally with top tube. Other than the effects of hydromechanics, the compact top tube is shaped as a blade to provide a stunning visual impact.
  • HRB

[ Hidden DM Rear Brake (HRB) ]
DARE also considers rear brake in its aerodynamics integration design by covering Direct Mount brake on the bottom of bottom bracket to minimize air resistance. Combining HRB design with direct pulling brake internal routing, DRAE provides the most efficient direct braking.
  • 14HB

    [14 Degree Flare Handlebar]
To top off the GFX’s amazing handling, DARE developed the ERGO 14, flared handlebars that offer high maneuverability when moving downhill over rough terrain.
  • LPB

    [Lower Position Battery]
Di2 batteries can be mounted on the down tube near the bottom bracket, maintaining the bike’s clean aesthetic and allowing seat post adjustment for various terrain requirements, as well as the installation of dropper posts.
  • MHH

    [Max. Hidden Headset]
The large integrated headset offers additional stability in combination with the GF series’ tapered head tube. It is 1-1/8” at the top and 1-1/2” at the bottom, providing smooth steering for confident downhill turns and light off-roading.
  • MTS

    [Multiple Tire Sizes]
In response to different needs for different terrain, the DARE GF series accommodates several types of tires. Other than 700 x 25c to the largest 700 x 45c road bike tire sets, mountain bike tires from 2.1” to 650b x 2.25” also fit the GFX. If tires smaller than 700 x 33c are installed, a fork cap on the inner side of the GFX’s fork helps keep the bike’s form clean.
  • SMT

    [Supply Box Mount]
The top tube provides mounting holes for standard bottle cages. Other than bags with straps, riders can also pick a screw mounted tool bag/top tube bag to easily store and access energy snacks or other supplies while they’re out adventuring.
  • V-CS

    [Variable Chainstay]
In contrast to traditional road bikes with only standard tire width options and short chainstays, the GF series caters to a variety of tire widths and performance needs. To surpass the limits of needing long chainstays for wide tires, we designed an adjustable rear dropout system, V-CS, capable of ten length settings ranging from 410mm to 425mm.

The V-CS system can be fine tuned to suit a variety of riding needs. Short chainstays provide the advantages and performance of a racing frame’s geometry. Longer chainstay length results in more stability when turning or traveling long distances, and also fits larger tires (650b x 2.25”) that work wonderfully on rugged terrain.
  • GEOE

    [Endurance Geometry ]
Introducing the DARE product development team’s contribution to the endurance riding category, a bike with both comfortable geometry and the performance of pro-level equipment-- the GFE.

The GFE’s frame is designed with a longer head tube and steeper head tube angle to achieve a shorter reach and higher stack height. This helps the rider maintain a more relaxed upper body posture, which is better for long rides. The top tube, rear stay, and seat tube’s flattened shapes paired with DARE’s innovative Flake Armor technology, carbon fiber with a flexible fish-scale structure, increases the effectiveness of shock absorption and in turn, comfort.

The GEOE’s thoughtful design encompasses the different geometries needed for different kinds of rides. It’s outfitted with 700 x 32c tires for road cycling, which strike a balance between comfort and speed. However, with the addition of an adjustable dropout system, DARE’s V-CS, a range of other tire width options open up. Chainstay length can now be adjusted according to the type of ride as well. For longer distances, the chainstays can be lengthened, and frame geometry will change to a steeper head tube angle and higher trail figure, more stable for riding straight and for turns. For classic cobbled races, switching to 28c ~ 30c tires results in more power transfer to the rear wheel via shorter chainstays.
  • GEOX

    [ Gravel Geometry ]
The GFX offers a variety of riding possibilities, carrying you comfortably on your adventures over paved roads or secret trails. It’s just the versatile road bike your collection needs.

With a shorter reach and higher stack height in comparison to normal race bikes, GFX geometry allows the rider’s upper body to stay in a comfortable position for longer rides. The longer head tube and steeper head tube angle utilizes an extra large 1-1/2” (MHH) lower headset cup rarely seen on other bikes in the same category, producing much smoother and reliable handling.

For the GEOX, DARE’s development team took into great consideration the geometries needed for different kinds of rides. The GFX is equipped with wide 700 x 45c tires great for both dry and wet terrain, as well as the adjustable V-CS system in its lengthened configuration. This is similar to a mountain bike’s geometry, and a GFX won’t feel as if its center of gravity is too high for exploring off the road. The GEOX is DARE’s design for the riders who lean towards those rugged, overgrown paths.

The professional configuration of the GEOX offers riders the same excellent performance of road cycling even when they’re exploring forests or journeying across miles.
